A man wanted for allegedly beating a gas station attendant to death, then robbing a Delran gas station days later, was captured in Camden Friday morning following a 12-day manhunt.  

Zedrick T. Johnson, 34, whose last known address is the unit block of Bentley Lane in Willingboro, was taken into custody at 7:45 a.m. at a house on the 100 block of North 23rd Street, Camden, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. 

Johnson had been on the lam since killing attendant Bal Krishna Karki during a robbery at the Lukoil gas station at Route 130 North and Charleston Road in Willingboro on Feb. 11, authorities said. Johnson allegedly beat Karki to death, then stole the money in the cash register. Karki’s body was found by a customer.

The following morning, Johnson allegedly robbed the Sunny Food Mart on Vansciver Parkway in Willingboro. Authorities said Johnson stuck his hand in his pocket and acted like he had a gun, pointed it at the cashier and demanded money, then fled in the victim’s car.  

A week later, on Feb. 20, Johnson held up National Fuel in Delran at knifepoint, authorities said. He allegedly punched the attendant in the face before taking the money and fleeing.

Johnson was captured by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, which includes officers from the New Jersey State Parole Board and the New Jersey State Police.
                                   
“I appreciate the tireless and tenacious investigative work of everybody whose efforts led to the capture of this very dangerous individual,” Prosecutor Robert Bernardi said. “The public can be relieved that he is off the street.”

Johnson spent nearly eight years in prison on a slew of robbery, burglary and child endangerment convictions. He was released from state prison on March 1, 2012.

Johnson will have a first appearance in Burlington County Superior Court on Monday Feb. 25.
