Cinnaminson Home Project Gets Final Site Plan Approval

Signage, drainage, parking and other issues have all been approved by the zoning board so officials can move forward with the project.

Final sites plans have been approved for the affordable senior housing project slated for the old Cinnaminson Home on Riverton Road.

Officials associated with Lutheran Social Ministries, the group behind the project, appeared before the zoning board for the last time for final approvals.

“It went very well,” said Keith McWhirk, the attorney representing Lutheran. “We made all the recommended changes and additions that were required.”

The plan is to knock down most of the old Cinnaminson Home—leaving the historic brick section intact—and build 55 units of affordable senior citizen housing. Preliminary plans were approved at last month’s meeting.

One of the final improvements to the plans this time was a new sign. At last month’s meeting, some zoning board members were concerned with its size and building materials. McWhirk said the 6-by-8-foot sign will have a coating over the wood and is smaller than the township’s sign on the corner of Riverton and Manor roads.

A stop sign was added to the driveway going back out onto Riverton Road, too.

“There’s also going to be a larger sidewalk,” McWhirk said.

The county is requiring Lutheran put in 5-foot wide sidewalks the entire length of the building.

Several residents’ concerns were addressed at last month’s meeting include stormwater and drainage issues and lighting.

“I think that we tried to incorporate and address the concerns of the public and the board,” McWhirk said. “I think we’ve done a good job with that. We look forward to starting the project and being part of the Cinnaminson community.”

Now, the group just awaits final approvals from the county and other “behind-the-scenes” items, he added.

“I think people are going to be pleased with it,” McWhirk said.
