County Extends Food Drive Campaign

Officials are urging residents and businesses to donate.

Burlington County officials, the United Way of Burlington County and local nonprofit agencies are extending their food drive through Friday, Sept. 16.

Officials are asking Burlington County employees and Burlington County Courts employees to continue to collect much needed food items for local food pantries.

Residents and local businesses are also being asked to continue to donate nonperishable food, money or food gift cards to their local food banks, or, to our partners, Catholic Charities and Christian Caring Centers. These two agencies are distributing all collected items to pantries across the county.

Collection boxes are set up throughout county buildings.

Food banks are most in need of donations during the summer months, when donations are traditionally lower.

The food banks are in desperate need of food items or food store gift cards so that they can purchase items that are in more demand.

The Food Banks need:

  • Breakfast bars
  • Canned meals, such as macaroni and cheese, ravioli, beef stew, spaghetti & meatballs, etc.
  • Canned items such as soup, tuna, vegetables and fruits
  • Boxed or bagged items such as cereal, noodles, pasta, rice, crackers and stuffing
  • Jarred items such as jelly, peanut butter, pasta sauce, etc.
  • Bottled items such as juice
  • Shelf milk
  • Baby food

To ensure food safety, certain items are not usable, such as:

  • Rusty or unlabeled cans
  • Perishable items
  • Homemade items
  • Noncommercial canned or packaged items
  • Open or used items
  • Out of date or expired items

Here is a list of a few of the larger food pantries in our area. You may donate to any other pantry of your choice as well.
