Burlington County freeholders will host an economic development summit Monday, Oct. 22, to highlight strategies for 2013, and to provide stakeholders with an overview of economic tools that are available to them.

Some 100 invited business leaders, legislators, local officials, and other key players, are slated to attend the summit, which will kickoff at 8:30 a.m. at the Roebling Firehouse and Community Center at 69 Main Street in Florence.

“This summit is not about where we are, but where we are going, and what we need to do to ensure that we are building a strong economic environment in Burlington County,” said Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio.

Congressman Jon Runyan (NJ-3) will also provide an overview of the economic impact that the Joint Base has on the region, and the federal government’s future investments in the facility, which will provide more business activity in the county.

Other presentations include: An overview of economic development strategies for 2013, by Mark Remsa, Director of Economic Development & Regional Planning; Workforce development strategies, to be presented by Kelly West, Coordinator of Burlington County’s Workforce Investment Board and One-Stop Career Center; Small Business Strategies, by Gary Rago, Director of the Small Business Center at Rutgers-Camden; and “Economic Gardening” Strategy for Existing Businesses, by Joan Divor, Business Services Librarian at Burlington County Library.
