It’s Memorial Day weekend. If you’re not going to the beach, here are a few ways to enjoy your long weekend.
Where/When: Business District of Haddon Avenue, Collingswood; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. May 28
Why Go: Collingswood's 32nd annual May Fair will include music, art, activities and more. More than 200 artisans will be on hand, displaying their work, which will also be available for sale. Lots of fun for kids will be offered, including games and pony rides. Live music will be featured on four stages, and several food courts will keep the crowd nourished.
Burlington County Farmers Market
Where/When: Hartford and Centerton roads, Moorestown; 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
Why Go: What goes better at a cook out than fresh vegetables? Stock up on Jersey Fresh fruits and vegetables. You can also pick up some baked goods and unique crafts.
Moorestown Township’s Memorial Day Ceremony
Where/When: Memorial Site, Memorial Field, South Church Street, Moorestown; 10 a.m.
Why Go: Take some time to remember with music by the Moorestown High School band, posting of the colors by Boy Scout Troop 44, commemoration speaker Chaplain Lt. Col. Christopher L. Miller ANG 108th Wing Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. There will also be a roll call and remembrance by Judith Young and Sen. Diane Allen. Customary salute will be provided by the William H. Snyder American Legion Post 42. The ceremony will end with the playing of Taps and a benediction. Councilwoman Stacey Jordan will be master of ceremonies.
Where/When: Hope Community Church, 235 W Main St., Moorestown; 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 30
Why Go: All proceeds will go to Disaster Relief through Samaritan's Purse in conjunction with the Hope Community Church Spring '11 Giving Project. There will be tables for clothing (including shoes), household items, tools, games and books, CDs /music, baby items, an area for exercise equipment and designated space for electronics and computer-related hardware/software. Bake sale items and other snacks/bottled waters will be available.
