Mail Delivery Unlikely for South Jersey Today
The U.S. Postal Service says mail delivery will be severely limited because of Hurricane Sandy.
It's unlikely mail will be delivered Monday, Oct. 29 in South Jersey, a U.S. Postal service spokesman said.
Early this morning, Ray Daiutolo Sr., a spokesman for the postal service, issued the following statement:
"The U.S. Postal Service is monitoring the course of Hurricane Sandy and taking actions to prepare facilities and employees in its projected path. As the storm makes landfall and the impacts become known, we will use our existing Mailer Service Update tools and employee notification protocols to keep our stakeholders advised of storm impacts to USPS operations and facilities. At this time, we are planning to attempt delivery today in southern NJ. There are a handful of locations at the Jersey shore where we will curtail delivery because of the state mandated evacuation."
But at 7:30 a.m. this morning, Daiutolo sent out a second statement:
"After further assessment, it is possible that there will be only isolated areas where mail may be delivered in southern New Jersey today."

If government offices and schools are closed, the postal service should be, too! It's not necessary for men and women to risk their lives to deliver a handful of advertisements!
