Obituary: Beloved Community Volunteer Anita Parry Dies
Anita Parry was active as a volunteer in both Moorestown and Cinnaminson, splitting time between Westfield Friends School and Greenleaf Retirement Community.
Anita Parry (nee Jones), 85, formerly of Riverton, passed away July 5.
Married to her late husband, John R. Parry, for more than 50 years, Anita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be sadly missed by her daughter, Corinne Costello, and husband, Pete; her granddaughter, Sharon Colvin, and husband, Tim; her son, John R. Parry, Jr., and wife, Valerie; her granddaughter, Vanessa Zoog, and husband, Chris; her grandson, Taylor R. Parry, and wife, Lauren; and her granddaughter, Madison Parry. Anita also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Noah and Charlotte Zoog.
Anita’s friends and family will greatly miss her strength of spirit and ongoing concern for others. Anita (“Nete”) grew up on a dairy farm in Moorestown and graduated from Moorestown High School. After marrying John, she became an active member of Westfield Friends Meeting and willingly contributed her time and efforts to both the Meeting and Westfield Friends School in Cinnaminson. She volunteered regularly at the Greenleaf Retirement Community in Moorestown.
Anita was best known for her love of gardening, her interest in preserving the environment long before it was fashionable, her devotion to the Quaker community, and her dedication to preserving family traditions. She also had a never-ending love of automobiles (primarily the Mercedes-Benz).
She truly enjoyed being surrounded by her friends and family and those she leaves behind fondly remember the many gatherings she hosted throughout the years.
A memorial service will be held at Westfield Friends Meeting in Cinnaminson at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 21, to celebrate the life of Anita Parry.
