Police: Man Flees Fight, Leaves Car on Tracks, Train Hits it
Police found the accused in a wooded area in East Riverton.
A Delran man's van was struck by a train in Cinnaminson Dec. 8 after he allegedly left it on the tracks to flee after a fight, police said.
Around 11 p.m. the night of Dec. 8, Cinnaminson Police arrived to the 1800 block of Taylors Lane for a report of a fight. Police found an injured victim and found out the suspect fled prior to police arrival.
The suspect was driving a blue minivan which was found unoccupied on the train tracks at Taylor's Lane and River Road. The train hit it.
Police found the suspect in the wooded area off Taylor's Lane.
Mehmat Baba, 44, of Route 130 in Delran, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threats.
He was lodged in Burlington County Jail in default of $20,000 bail. More charges are pending.

Let me guess, His address of "Rt.130 in Delran" means a hotel? I don't know what brings more criminals, The "Rt.130 Hotels" or the Light rail.

I assume it was a freight train that hit it at that hour, right?

The report didn't say. It just said train, so I'm not sure if it was the River line or the freight that goes that late at night.

It was the River Line.

"Cinnaminson Police arrived to the 1800 block of Taylors Lane for a report of a flight" Spell-check does have its ups and downs, that's for sure.

Thanks Cinnacide for the extra eagle eye. Spell check didn't catch that because "flight" is a real word but I'll change it right now.

@Ed Jenkins. Mehet is typically the name of a male. Baba would be the surname.

If SOME of the people who live in this township actually ventured on the river side of Rt. 130, they would know that there is only one set of tracks, that BOTH the light rail and freight trains run on....AT DIFFERENT TIMES!

Ed, whatcha smokin'? What did I say that was negative or rude? All I said was "@Ed Jenkins. Mehet is typically the name of a male. Baba would be the surname." I thought you would have thanked me for answering your question. Some people!
As far as the rest you said, chill out. You are going off on a tangent just like my first wife.

John, if you didn't use profanity, then it wasn't you. It was another user. And you don't see the comment—as I have said before—because it's been deleted.

@John - "Free Speech" doesn't apply here. Patch is private property, and it's not run by the government. You don't just get to say whatever you want here. If you want free speech, start your own blog/news site.

Why didnt the police move the van? I could understand if the train was in sight but it seems to be more likely that it wouldnt be. And charge the man with a terroristic threat?

If you are correct that he did beat up his wife, he ought to be bound tight to the railroad tracks and forgotten about.

So, profanity is a no-no, but this is okay?
" he ought to be bound tight to the railroad tracks and forgotten about"
Let's get our censorial priorities in order. I think suggestions of extraordinary violence are a bit worse than profanity.

no justalocalguy, this is a newspaper and comments can be made as long as its ok with proper language, we do not know all the facts about this incident. To make comments about someone's name, where he lives is also not right so who are U to say anything about it.... This is what free speech is, the ability to comment on things...get it
JustALocalGuy
11:51 am on Friday, December 14, 2012
@John Just because you don't know the facts about an incident isn't a reason for you to assume others don't; because some of us do.
My point is that you only get to "speak" here at the pleasure of the editors. "Free Speech" is only meaningful in the context of government limitations on speech, and has nothing at all to do with the comment section of a newspaper website.

@JustALocalGuy, thanks for the lesson on assuming things, I do not assume anything
I guess U know about the incident and your more than welcome to that information but for others to make assumptions is not correct and when comments are made it not right either.....I guess this is my civics lesson for today thanks so very much....have a good day....
