Police: Teenager Performed Lewd Act at Library
Adults and juveniles were in the room at the time.
Cinnaminson Police arrested a juvenile Sunday afternoon for performing a lewd act at the public library here.
While on a computer in the children's section of the Cinnaminson Library on Riverton Road, a 17-year-old male was found masturbating, police said.
Adults and other juveniles were present at the time.
Police arrested the teenager and he was charged on a juvenile complaint with aggravated criminal sexual contact and lewdness.
He was released to the custody of his parents.
The names of the suspect and witnesses are being withheld due to their ages.

ya know, 17 years old? really, if he's old enough to drive himself there, he should be old enough to have his name and picture given so the parents of younger children can know who he is!

Sounds like a good idea BUT first find out what his mental capability is.......did he drive himself there?? AND we have to start educating our young people to stay away from people who do inappropriate things. It's a shame to add this situation to innocent children but in todays society it is needed......this world is not as it was when I was a child (but even then I was exposed to some bad situations!)

what was he doing masturbating in the children's section of the library?? Thinking about children, public place, hello, that screams sex offender!

No, Susan, it screams stupid young man OR someone who has a mental problem and does not know the difference, proper behavior in public or something along those lines.

In the first place, he was/is too old to be using the "children section' of the library! AND, just what was he watching when using the computer and mastrubating?

Sorry Nancy, but I have worked with mentally challenged youth for 27 years now and if they are capable of being at the library without supervision, my guess is that they know right from wrong.

Does it really matter what he was watching?? If he exposed himself to children, that makes it a sex crime!! Sick freak!!

Not sure, but I think the question was asked because does the library have blocking on for certain websites on the internet or can you go to website. If there are no blockers that's a problem for those using the library's computers.

He may have been using the computer as a ruse in order to watch the children...and do what he was doing.

What this young man did is gross but as Nancy pointed out maybe he does have a mental illness and doesn't know right from wrong. As for the people saying he should be registered as a sex offender, he was not convicted of a sex crime only charged with one, unless the case goes to court and he is found guilty he does not have to register.

SUSAN............who said or assumed that he was in the library alone? Perhaps he was accompanied by a parent or someone responsible for him and they were 'upstairs' assuming he'd be fine for a little while. From what I've recently seen, even with supposidly 'normal' children, their parents are not always that 'responsible' in keeping track of what their children are doing even when near by. Check out the way some let their little girls dress up in what my teenage daughter used to call 'slut clothes' when she was young. This old woman is oft' times appalled at what is allowed.

Didn't say alone...said without supervision and yes someone could have been with him, but not paying attention. Who said you were a prude? You are all over the place in the last 2 responses-from little girls dressing wrong to to being a prude?????Paranoid?

I'm far from being a prude nor am I an expert on child rearing, Susan, and even with your vast experience working with mentally disturbed children....nobody is always right or wrong and not all people caring for the mentally disturbed are diligent...as is evidenced daily.

Wow! What s next? You can t even go to the library without being concerned "weird things" can happen here. Really? I realize this can happen "anywhere" in this crazy world anymore but....a library??? Sad. Good idea to never leave your child alone there(even if they are @ an age that they can be left to research or study there.) Hope this kid gets help and is further banned from our library.
