As someone who travels that road every day I have absolutely no problem with the ticket writing. It's about time. Of course, they could put a 4-way stop in at New Albany and Parry and cut down on the speed altogether there.

Well who controlls the over assessments of our homes, we are paying over $50,000 for all our homes thru over assessments, lets see the budget and how many chargers are hidden in the lines.....

John, the last time our houses were assessed was when the market was high. We don't re-assess ever year! If you feel your house is over-assessed, it is up to each individual to take action. Once too many people do this, then we apply for a re-assessment of everyone, because that is when the Township loses too much money.

@Vincenzo, oh really, thats means that its ok to over assess our homes to market conditions, so your telling me the operation of this township is based on bad information from the assessor....When my wife died 3 years ago I had an appraisal done and got my house assessment down but the market value has still gone down and we are paying more in taxes than we should....so lets get real.....this is not a money pit....now they say we need better schools, the fire dept wants new trucks at a cost of 1 million and they say they did not raise taxes which if I read my tax bill was increased by 1 cent which does not seem alot but it is....get real ok

@John. I will happily help you with the process of appealing your home assessment. If you feel it is over assessed, the paperwork is exceedingly easy and costs $25. The appeal has to be in by April 1st. Why? Because that's what people of Cinnaminson do, help out each other. It's a small town and you take the good with the bad and there is considerably more good than bad here.

Do you know for a fact that the fire commission is made up of "old firemen and their families"? Check your facts along with Ric there ole' boy, three (3) of the current fire commissioners’ are not fire fighter nor have the ever been fire fighters. Oh yea, and they have no relations to any of the fire fighters. They are citizens who chose to serve their community instead of hiding behind a keyboard and stirring the pot all the time. Maybe you Ric and John should try and serve your community instead of ripping it apart every chance you get. The fire department is always looking for new volunteers.

@bull-ric - Why are you calling me a "keyboard coward"? I use my real name, have provided my contact info, I actually attend township meetings, and voted last saturday on the fire district budget. I don't push my opinions on anybody, and try to provide links for people to look up factual information on their own, so they can form their own opinions. I really don't understand why you are calling me a loser, and accusing me of ripping apart the community instead of serving it. Have I met you at any of the twp meetings, zoning board and planning board meetings, park or creek clean-ups that I have attended or volunteered at in the past couple of years? I know better than to respond to people like you, who don't have a clue what they're talking about, but I am insulted and offended by your remarks, and don't want anyone reading your nasty, hateful comments to think that what you're saying is actually true.

I'll take surpluses that can pay for half of new fire equipment and other capital over trying to raise money through bonds and matching state money for new schools.

Of all those officers and administrators that you mentioned, ALL but 3 of them are VOLUNTEERS. So no, you’re thought process and theory has NO merit except to mis-lead. Please get your facts straight before you make such comments in the future. And yes, there are in fact more fire fighters in town than police officers, but again, a MAJORITY of these fire fighters are VOLUNTEERS!

You know Cindy; I get my car repaired at a dealer. They do a decent job. But Cindy despite what you feel is morally right; I do claim the right to take issue if I feel the dealer’s bill is too high – even if I am satisfied with the job. I am not going to pay $3000 when a battery fails even if they give me a great battery. I will pay a fair price. The same logic applies to the fire department. Cindy, no one is complaining about the services of the fire department. You have no legitimate point for going there.
The complaints are over the huge cost Cinnaminson taxpayers must bear. Not every resident is secure like you are with a home in Cinnaminson that has been passed down 5 generations. Some of us have mortgages and taxes that are a burden. It must be wonderful for you not to worry about the cost of taxes. I envy you.
By the way, I am so glad you have used the services of the fire department. There have been two occasions over the years we could have called the Cinnaminson fire department but we did not. In fact if you were to lift the rug in my bedroom you would see a huge scorch mark on my wood floor from a fire my father put out. He put the fire out himself rather than again endure firemen swinging axes all over the place – just like what happened years ago when we had a fire at our home on Philadelphia’s Mainline. A lot of the damage to our living room came from the firemen’s axes and not the flames.

@Cindy, I am aware of the process of getting the assessor to look at the numbers, my wife died 3 years ago and found out that the market value did not go with the assessed value for that year...Why is it that the County has said that our town has to have a reassessment by 2014 tax year....The market conditions have not gained any thing from what I have been reading....If your assessed at over $100,000 more than market value that means your paying alot of added taxes that U should not have to, trying to compare expenses to a budget is one thing and going line by line is another, thats how we got a new charger for the police, it was an oversight....lets be realistic about our expenses and not inflate things ok, be fair, a house value is not set in stone or is it....just like the schools, do we really need them, according to facts the schools are doing a good job....or is it just extra money to spend....

Ric and John you both realize that the municipal and fire budgets have remained flat over the last 5+ years? The county has kept their levy at the same level or reduced it also? If you want' to express your angst on our property taxes you need to point it solely at the school district as that is the only budget that continues to increase year-in and year-out, all others remain flat.

John, by law it's required every 7 years. 2007 was our last one. If market conditions haven't varied a lot since the last assessment, towns could extend that out to almost double that timeframe. In this case, they have dramatically chanced since 2007 so 2014 is when we are scheduled for the next assessment.

@Bull-ric OK, I appreciate your loyalty to the FD. We know that the fire district’s surplus was at least a half million at 2012 because that is the amount the fire district increased its 2013 budget over 2012 without a tax increase. So how large a surplus was there at the end of 2012 – was it in excess of 1 or 2 million dollars?
We also know that the fire district budgeted $948,800 for firefighters. How was that paid out? Was it split $80,000 each for 12 firefighters?

@Cindy, thats ok from what I can gather if there is an reassessment of the houses due to market value declines, the township will just increase the tax base for the houses upwards so whats the sense of doing it in the first place....We still have flooding by the Shoppes, we still have speeders on the side streets and we still have a police department that has been cut....And like U say, U and barb have been going to the township meetings and all U get is a run a round, its fun right.....I guess they should have put in a Merry go Round with the race cars....have a good one

How is that the case? Do you realize that the majority of the people that moved here moved from locations that had paid fire companies? They questioned why there was no one at the firehouse 24 hours a day. Also, if people would read the articles, the fire budget has not increased at all in the past 5+ years so all this "more and more" is pure baloney.

Phil, why bother if you aren't going to be honest? There has not been a tax increase becuase there has been a huge surplus hidden in the budget. The surplus is so high Chief Kramer will not disclose it.
It is sort of like 'Evita" and the money kept rolling in.....
