Miss Representation - Film Screening and Discussion
601 Pemberton Browns Mills Rd, Pemberton, NJ | Get Directions »
$10.00
Description provided by Burlington County College.
Screening of Miss Representation followed by a discussion of the main argument presented in the film: American youth are being sold the concept that women and girls’ value lies in their youth, beauty and sexuality.
Presented at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, Miss Representation was written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom. It exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under representation of women in positions of power and influence in America and challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls.
Sponsors of the screening include the Burlington County College Foundation; Burlington County Advisory Council for Women; CONTACT of Burlington County; South Jersey NOW-Alice Paul Chapter; and the Alice Paul Institute
