Committee Members Disagree on Redevelopment Vote

Mayor Ben Young believes new design standards in the redevelopment zone will come off as business unfriendly, while Deputy Mayor Anthony Minniti says the standards are vital to redevelopment.

Township committee adopted new design standards Monday for areas in the redevelopment zone along Route 130, which prompted debate/discussion among some members of committee—namely Mayor Ben Young and Deputy Mayor Anthony Minnitti.

Young argued against adopting the standards, suggesting compliance would be onerous for existing businesses and reinforce the township's reputation as being "not business friendly."

Minniti, on the other hand, argued the township needs the standards to attract businesses to town that are "serious."
