U-8 Cinnaminson Pirates Win Maple Shade Summer Classic

The Pirates defeated Maple Shade, 12-2, Wednesday night.

After being postponed due to weather the previous two nights, the U-8 Cinnaminson Pirates baseball team played Maple Shade in the championship game of the 10th Annual Maple Shade Summer Classic.

The Pirates came into the championship game undefeated in pool play by outscoring their opponents 40-7. They defeated Sacred Heart, Mt Laurel, and Mt. Airy to reach the championship round. 

In Wednesday night’s championship 12-2 victory the Pirates played fantastic defense and had strong pitching and efficient hitting.  Behind the pitching of Tommy Angelone, Daulton McDonald, Connor Prendergast and Kyle McDonough, Maple shade had only two hits.

All 11 players last night reached base, and 8 of the 11 Pirates scored runs in the game. Tommy Angelone had three hits with four RBI to lead the attack, Ryan Horner, Daulton McDonald had two hits apiece.   

Defensively, for the second game in the tournament the Pirates did not have an error and made solid plays defensively to allow the pitching and offense to keep the game in control.

While catching, Alex LePage threw out three runners attempting to take second base and he had six caught stealing during the tournament. 

The defensive play of Jackson Adams at second base, Ryan Horner at shortstop, Karl Wissmann at first base and Matt McCloskey in centerfield anchored the defense throughout the four games. 

The Pirates roster is Jackson Adams, Ryan Horner, Kyle McDonough, Alex LePage, Tommy Angelone, Daulton McDonald, Matt McCloskey, Connor Prendergast, Timmy Morrell, L.C. Smith, Karl Wissmann, and Kristian Czajka.
