Gas Guzzlers Line Up Early

About 100 people drove away from Sunoco in Delran this morning after paying to fill their tanks with money they could have found in their couch cushions.

Spark Energy, an electricity supplier, to the first 100 people who showed up with a special printed-out coupon as part of a summer promotion for new customers.

But, due to high turnout, dozens of cars were turned away even before the 10 a.m. start time.

Delran police were there to ease some of the traffic problems on Millside Road and Route 130 due to the promotion.

One happy gas-getter, Lynda Myers Hatcher of Delanco, was 30th in line. She heard of the deal Thursday night, printed the coupon and traveled five minutes from her house to take advantage.

"I told my sister Michelle about it and she made it, too. She was about 60th in line. It was a great deal and a lot of fun," Hatcher said.
