South Jersey Fourth of July Fun

In RIverton, Moorestown and beyond, celebrate Independence Day this weekend.

Parades and fireworks are synonymous with Fourth of July. There are plenty of South Jersey options to help celebrate Independence Day this weekend.

All events are on July 4, unless otherwise noted.

Parades

Moorestown Fourth of July Parade

Look no further than down Church Road to celebrate Fourth of July. Moorestown’s parade is back this year after several years of cancelation. The parade steps off at noon, beginning at Central and Chester avenues, up Main Street and heading down to Church Street. Want to march (or ride a bike) rather than view the parade? Show up at 11 a.m. at the starting point to be placed into the procession.

 

Riverton Fourth of July Children’s Parade

Riverton will hold its 114th Fourth of July Children’s Parade at 10 a.m. In addition to the kiddies, participants include fire companies, classic cars, local dignitaries, marching bands and more. Stay for festivities, including a moon bounce, pony rides, clowns, games, carriage rides and much more. Visit riverton4thofjuly.com for more information.

 

Evesham Fourth of July Parade

Local returning troops will serve as grand marshals in Evesham’s celebration. The parade starts at 11 a.m., and runs along Main Street from Maple Avenue to Beetlewood Road.

 

Maple Shade Independence Day Celebration

Maple Shade's annual parade steps off a few days early—July 2 at 1 p.m. The parade travels down Main Street from Fellowship Road to Terrace Avenue. It will include veterans, fire companies, string bands, bagpipers, classic cars, floats and more.

 

Haddon Township Happy Birthday America Celebration

Haddon Township will hold its annual Independence Day parade down Haddon Avenue, turning on Crystal Lake Avenue and ending at Crystal Lake Pool—where swimming is free for the day. Parade registration begins at 10 a.m. at 135 Haddon Ave., with the parade starting at 11 a.m. Participants include fire trucks, bands, floats and even pets. 

 

Collingswood Bike Parade

Children of all ages can decorate their bikes, strollers and wagon in patriotic colors to take part in the annual bike parade. All participants get free Mr. Softee ice cream and an American flag, and prizes will be given out for the best decorations. The parade takes place in Knight Park at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the gazebo by the Grant Avenue entrance to Knight Park.

 

 

Fireworks

Haddonfield Fireworks Extravaganza

Get an early jump on Independence Day with these fireworks on July 3. Gates at Haddonfield Memorial High School, 401 Kings Highway East, open at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks begin at dusk. Food will be on sale, and South Jersey band the Shore Thing will entertain the crowd.

 

Haddon Township Happy Birthday America Celebration

Another July 3 option is Haddon Township’s fireworks, which take place at Haddon Township High School. Gates open at 7 p.m. on Cuthbert Boulevard. Hi Fidelity will provide musical entertainment before the fireworks at dusk. Refreshments will be on sale.

 

Camden Waterfront Independence Day Celebration

Get another early shot at fireworks with Camden County’s July 2 show. Beginning at 7 p.m., a free concert featuring the Air National Guard Band of the Mid-Atlantic will kick off, followed by a Delaware River fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. The celebration takes place at Wiggins Waterfront Park, at the foot of Mickle Boulevard in Camden. 

 

Maple Shade Independence Day Celebration

Maple Shade will shoot off its fireworks July 2. The show begins at 9:30 p.m. at Maple Shade High School, 180 Frederick Ave.

 

Evesham Fourth of July Bash

Evesham’s celebration starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Cherokee High School athletic field, 120 Tomlinson Rd. The fireworks show starts up at 9:45 p.m. In addition to the fireworks, there will be visit from paratroopers, a military tribute and refreshments on sale.

 

Cherry Hill Independence Day Celebration

Come out to Cherry Hill West High School, 2101 Chapel Ave., for the township’s fireworks. Gates open at 8 p.m. and fireworks start at 9:15 p.m. Live music will entertain the crowd before the show, and will continue, synchronized to the fireworks.

 

 

Pennsylvania Options

Cross the bridge for some more Fourth of July fun. There is, of course, Philadelphia’s huge Welcome America celebration with events all weekend, capped with a huge fireworks show. Click here for the full schedule.

Or head out to Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation’s “When in the Course of Human Events–A Fourth of July Celebration and Picnic” on July 2 and 3 in Edgmont Township, PA. Held 11 a.m.-5 p.m. each day, events include a live reading of the Declaration of Independence, beekeeping demonstration, cheese making, horse plowing and even a burning of King George in effigy. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children ages 4-12. Click here for more information.
