Deputy Mayor Don Brauckmann wants to showcase Pirates pride.

Deputy Mayor Donald Brauckmann, also the director of the township’s parks and recreation department, wants to Cinnaminson’s Pirate pride.

He’s trying to find a volunteer group or artist to paint the letter “C” in black and red on the soccer kick wall at .

“I’d like to try to spike up the township pride a little by putting a ‘C’ or a pirate up there that says, ‘Hey, we’re on a Cinnaminson field,’” Brauckmann said.

Brauckmann called the project a “cool” thing but it’s not exactly on the top of the priority list for the township’s public works department. He wants to involve the community and save the township money at the same time.

“It also gives people ownership when they are more involved,” he said.

The kick wall is an 8x24 green concrete wall seen by thousands of athletes and spectators each season. It needs some character, Brauckmann said.

He’s already sent an e-mail about to the township's schools and reached out to the art department at the high school.

The project should be started and be completed some time in March, in time for the spring sports season.

Brauckmann hopes to do more things like this, he said.

“It’s a feel-good community project,” he said.

A parks cleanup day is scheduled for Saturday, March 26.
