Abandoned Gas Station Slated for Demo by End of Month

Cinnaminson Township administrator Frank Locantore said the owners are in the process of prepping the site for demolition.

The long-abandoned gas station at Route 130 and Willow Drive is still standing while the owners continue to prep the site for demolition.

Township administrator Frank Locantore said At Willow LLC, which owns the vacant former Mobil station, is waiting to hear back from PSE&G to make sure the electricity is shut off. They also need to complete an asbestos survey and coordinate with the county Soil Conservation Office before the property can be demolished.

Locantore did not have a specific anticipated start date for demolition, but said, "It is my understanding that they are working toward this so as to not unnecessarily delay this project."

The deadline for demolition to be complete is March 29, according to the administrator.

Locantore said he didn't know what the owners planned to do with the property once the building was taken down.

The station—which has been abandoned since 2003—was recently added to the township’s abandoned properties list, allowing Cinnaminson officials to intervene. Once it’s deemed an abandoned property, the township can demand the site be cleaned, improved or redeveloped.

Deputy Mayor Anthony Minniti has said he hopes the property owner can find a developer to put something there. Calling it a valuable corner, Minniti said it’s a good location for a restaurant or convenience store/gas station combination.
