Cinnaminson Celebrity Chef In Front of the Camera Again

SweetWater chef George Kyrtatas will be on two new competitive cooking shows premiering later this year.

SweetWater co-owner/chef George Kyrtatas, already a celebrity in his own right, is about to become even more famous.

Kyrtatas, a published author and multiple award-winning executive chef, will appear on two new cooking shows later this year on the Food Network and Spike TV.

The second-generation restaurateur—raised in Cinnaminson and a graduate of Cinnaminson High School—is legally bound to stay somewhat mum on the details of the shows, but revealed both will be of the competitive cooking variety, which was a new foray for the chef.

"Being on TV was not a new experience," said Kyrtatas, who has been guest chef on The Cooking Odyssey on PBS and has appeared on Fox & Friends. "But doing a competition was ... And it was a great experience. I can definitely tell you the show coming out on the Food Network is wild. It's going to be awesome."

He added that the Food Network program will feature a "popular Food Network host." It's expected to premiere this fall, and Kyrtatas is planning to hold a viewing party at SweetWater the night of the premiere.

It's been a busy month for Kyrtatas: He filmed his episode of the Food Network show two weeks ago in Los Angeles, and just before that filmed an episode of the Spike TV show.

He wasn't sure when the Spike show would premiere. He'll reveal more details about both shows as their premiere dates approach.

Kyrtatas' family has owned and operated Hathaway's Diner—which is attached to SweetWater—for the last 27 years. Kyrtatas is co-owner and executive chef of both restaurants.

SweetWater opened roughly 10 months ago.
