Dietz & Watson Demo Continues

Burlington County Freeholder Director Joe Donnelly said a large section of the remaining structure was imploded.

Demolition of the burned-out Dietz & Watson facility in Delanco is nearing completion, according to Burlington County Freeholder Director Joe Donnelly.

Donnelly said Wednesday that the "super structure" of the building had been imploded, leaving only the front office portions of the facility remaining. Demolition of that section is expected to begin in the coming days, he said.

All 35 million pounds of spoiled food have been removed from the site, and BioTriad Environmental continues its odor neutralization measures, which have made "noticeable improvements" to the air quality in the surrounding area, Donnelly said.

Furthermore, according to the freeholder director, storm water and runoff from the cleanup is being collected, analyzed and treated on site as needed. And Dietz & Watson has maintained pest control efforts to prevent potential wildlife concerns.
