Opening Day Quickly Approaching for Jersey Diner

With construction wrapping up, the former Harvest Diner is undergoing final touches in hopes of opening in mid-August.

After a wait of nearly eight months, a familiar diner with a new name is almost ready to re-open.

The Jersey Diner, which will be located at the former Harvest Diner location on Route 130 in Cinnaminson, will open for business sometime in mid-August.

Owner Louis Roustas revealed that construction is wrapping up and they hope to open the diner the week of Aug. 12, though weather and other variables could push that back to the week of Aug. 19. He said a definitive opening date has not been set.

After the Harvest Diner closed its doors in January, the Roustas family, owners of the Sage Diner on Route 73 in Mount Laurel, took over the site and renovated the restaurant both inside and out. Most of the construction is complete, according to Roustas. They are mostly waiting to put in the booths and tables.

The diner, which will be open 24 hours a day, will feature a large menu with numerous daily specials. Roustas stated that the menu is set, but he couldn’t remark on how different or similar the menu would be to the old Harvest Diner’s selection.

With the opening just a few weeks away, the diner has begun hiring servers, hostesses and busboys. Roustas said that, as promised, they are re-hiring former Harvest Diner employees.

“We’ve hired some,” Roustas said. “We also have a few former employees at (Sage Diner in Mount Laurel) that are going to come back to work here when we open.”
