Regal Theater at Moorestown Mall Days From Opening

Ahead of its grand opening next week, the new state-of-the-art theater will host a series of cheap preview events ($2 for a ticket!) benefiting local charities.

Moorestown is less than a week away from having its very own theater again.

The state-of-the-art 12-screen Regal Premium Experience (RPX) theater at Moorestown Mall is set to debut next Sunday, with three days of preview events benefiting local charities, followed by the grand opening on Thursday, Dec. 12.

The theater will open its doors Sunday for the first of three preview events—the other two being held Monday and Tuesday—during which movie tickets, popcorn and soft drinks will be $2 each. Each day has a different theme, with proceeds benefiting a different charity each day. A specific lineup of movies and showtimes for each day is yet to be announced, but Regal has stated the films will be recent releases.

Sunday’s theme is “Regal Salutes Our Heroes,” featuring superhero films to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. On Monday, “Regal Family Fun Day” will feature children/family films benefiting MooreKids. And on Tuesday, the theater will screen inspirational and musical films for “Music & Movie Magic at Regal” to benefit Symphony in C.

“These preview events are a great way to bring the community together during a theater grand opening,” said Jawed Khan, director of operations at Regal Entertainment Group. “We’ve replaced the older United Artists theatre at Moorestown Mall with a completely new facility. This celebration not only encourages guests to come visit the new Regal Cinemas, but it also benefits some fantastic local charities in the area.”

The former United Artists theater was demolished last year, and construction began at the beginning of 2013 on the Regal theater. The new theater is part of PREIT’s overhaul of the Moorestown Mall, which also includes the addition of fine dining and new retail.

The Moorestown RPX theater is one of only about 60 in the country.

Among the many amenities the theater boasts—including 3D capability, digital projection screens, stadium seating with reclining seats, cutting-edge surround sound and kiosks for automated ticket purchasing—the venue will also feature another piece of cutting-edge technology, the Sony Entertainment Access System, which assists moviegoers who are deaf, hard of hearing, are blind, or have low vision. The system includes specially designed lightweight eyewear for guests who are deaf or hard of hearing to privately view closed-captioned text directly in their line of sight. This technology also includes a wireless receiver that provides access to descriptive audio tracks via a pair of headsets for guests who are blind or have low vision.

The theater will mark its grand opening next Thursday—following a VIP-only event on Wednesday—with the premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

A complete list of film titles and showtimes will be available at REGmovies.com/Theatres/Grand-Openings.
