ReStore Celebrates Reinvestment in Community

Habitat for Humanity's Saturday festival thanks loyal customers, who help neighbors move toward homeownership.

In celebration of five successful years selling discounted home furnishings to the public, the ReStore of Cinnaminson's  branch held a festival at its Taylors Lane location Saturday.

Habitat ReStore sells donated home furnishings, new and used, and building materials at more than 50 percent below retail value to people in need. Profits are reinvested back into Habitat's , such as the . 

“Today’s event is to celebrate the success of the ReStore in the last five years,” said Caitlin Watterson, public relations and procurement coordinator of Habitat for Humanity of Burlington County. “The community has been helpful in supporting our goals.”

The event included face painting, cookie decorating and door prizes for the first 50 guests. Boost Café, in Riverside, and Costco, in Mt. Laurel, provided cake and beverages to thank ReStore supporters.

“The ReStore has brought in more than $450,000 annually,” said Watterson. “This money aids in the three housing projects going on in Cinnaminson at this time.”

ReStore customers help provide hardworking people with the dream of homeownership, she added.

Since opening, Cinnaminson's ReStore has also recycled surplus new or used building materials to reduce waste locally. Working more than 13,000 hours total, upward of 1,000 volunteers have helped ensure the store's success.

“Without the many volunteers,” said Watterson, "we could not accomplish our mission."
