Site Plans Approved for Go-Kart Facility

Construction could start as early as May.

Preliminary and final site plans given by Kimco Realty Corporation, the group behind the proposed go-kart racing facility, were .

In their second meeting to give site plan approvals—the first last month—Kimco officials ironed out stormwater management, paving and signage issues, and other details, for Speed Raceway, the Denver-based go-kart facility on Route 130 and Riverton Road.

Construction could start as early as May.

Although no members of the public testified on the project at Wednesday’s meeting, several were in attendance during . After the site plans are approved officially at the March meeting of the zoning board, there is a 45-day appeal period.

“That would bring us to mid-April,” said Greg Reed, of Kimco. “Which is perfect, because we could start construction in May.”

Reed said all paving, curbing and relining of parking spots—as well as landscaping—will be finished prior to May.

and Reed said the parking lot would be finished prior to their opening. Work still needs to be done for drainage issues and will be finished by July 30, as per the site plan approval by zoning board members.

“I think it’s a great thing for Cinnaminson,” Reed said. “We’re going to get people from Cinnaminson and from all the neighboring towns.”

Speed Raceway already runs a go-kart facility in Denver, Colorado. The indoor facility would be entirely electric with European-style go-karts. Conference and meeting rooms will be available as well as a small concession and arcade area.

“This is a great opportunity for something unique,” Reed said.
