Karen has been a professional trainer and behavior consultant since 2004. Her areas of expertise are in complex behaviors such as fear, aggression, phobias, obsessive disorders and medical causes of behavior. She’s the trainer-of-choice for the Animal Hospital of Sayreville in South Amboy, N.J. and has worked on cases for Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Tinton Falls, NJ.

Karen is the owner of The Dog Super Nanny, a company providing professional in-home private training and pet-sitting services. She is an expert obedience instructor and uses positive reinforcement to achieve life-long training success for her students.

She’s a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, the Associationof Animal Behavior Professionals, Financial Supporter/Friend of Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, Chair of The Purr‘n Pooch Foundation for Animals and spokesperson for the Saint Barnabas Health Care System “Paws for Patients” pet therapy. 

She is the head trainer for the Purr'n Pooch Canine Academy in Tinton Falls, NJ where she offers behavior seminars, group classes, one-on-one personal instruction, in-home training options. 

Karen is the former host of the live radio show, “The Dog Super Nanny,” on WNJC1360AM, a contributing writer for Inside Jersey magazine, contributor to Family and Salute magazines of the U.S. Armed Forces, and hosts a blog on NJ.com. She has been a repeat guest on popular radio programming such as “Cat Chat”on Sirius/XM Martha Stewart Living Channel, and “Dog Talk” on WOR 710HD New York.

She volunteers for shelters and rescue groups throughout the Garden State where she counsels volunteers on safe handling techniques, behavior modification and more.

Karen is a mentor and educator to certified and non-certified professional dog trainers wishing to enhance their knowledge of chronic behaviors. She lives in Keyport, N.J., with her husband, Richard, their two dogs and three cats.
