Adopt a Pet for Less This Summer

Burlington County dropped its pet adoption fees for dogs and cats until the end of the summer, so take advantage now.

Searching for your next pet? Good timing. Burlington County just lowered its adoption fees for dogs and cats until the end of the summer.

Starting this past weekend, the county launched its annual “Dog Days of Summer”/“Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat” programs at the Burlington County Animal Shelter, reducing adoption fees for dogs/puppies from $75 down to $40, and from $45 to $20 for cats and kittens.

“This annual program helps to give needy animals good homes with reduced adoption fees, and also includes having their pets spayed or neutered,” said Freeholder Mary Ann O’Brien, who oversees the Health Department and Animal Shelter.

The promotion runs through the end of August.

The animal shelter provides spayed or neutered animals for adoption in hopes of controlling the county’s animal population.

The County Animal Shelter is located on Academy Drive off of Woodlane Road, behind the Burlington County Library in Westampton Township. The shelter is open from noon to 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays; noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and noon to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays. The shelter is closed on Sundays and holidays.

For more information, call the County Animal Shelter at 609-265-5073.
