Blue Ribbons Show Police Support

Cinnaminson Patch brings you a weekly feature on news and events coming from Burlington County.

Fly blue ribbons to show police support
Blue ribbons are available to members of the public this week as part of a nationwide effort to honor law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty.

The initiative, the “Blue Ribbon Campaign,” is held in conjunction with National Police Week, which began Sunday.

The Prosecutor’s Office and the Burlington County Police Chiefs’ Association are spearheading the effort in Burlington County. The campaign is funded each year by Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc. (C.O.P.S.), which has distributed more than 1 million ribbons nationwide.

Citizens are encouraged to tie a blue ribbon to the antenna or door handle of their vehicle as a reminder of law enforcement personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice and also to show support for the men and women in blue.

The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office has made ribbons available to Burlington County municipal police departments. Members of the public who wish to show their support should contact their local police department to receive a ribbon. The ribbons are also available at the BCPO and the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department.
