BurlCo Lands Huge New Rothman Institute Branch

Doctors cut the ribbon on the 33,000-square-foot facility, expected to draw in patients from all over South Jersey.

South Jersey has a new place to go for its broken bones, bad backs and sports injuries.

The Rothman Institute, a private orthopedic practice, recently celebrated the opening of its expansive new Marlton office. With 45 exam rooms, 33,000 square feet of space, X-ray and epidural injection suites, and 70 staff on-site, Rothman’s new branch is a one-stop shop for its patients.

“Our ultimate goal is to have happy patients and happy physicians,” said Dr. Todd Albert, president of the Rothman Institute. “We’re all about the patient experience and promoting healing for our patients.”

Orthopedic care is becoming increasingly necessary as Baby Boomers enter their senior years, pushing up patient needs at many facilities, including Rothman, the institute’s CEO said.

“Joint replacement will be a big issue as boomers age,” CEO Mike West said. “Plus, we have a very developed sports medicine program, which draws in athletes from around the region.”

The physician lineup specializes in every orthopedic area, including hip and knee, spine, sports medicine, shoulder and elbow, foot and ankle, hand and wrist, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and oncology.

The doctors all have privileges at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, as well as more local hospitals, including Kennedy and Virtua.

Rothman previously had a center in Voorhees, but found itself short on space. So the institute decided to make the move to a much larger space in Marlton, at the intersection of Route 70 and Greentree Road. With nearby access to the turnpike, Route 73 and I-295, the institute could draw in patients from all over South Jersey and into Central Jersey, West said.

Rothman purchased the building and took over the top two floors of the 70,000-square-foot building; the lower floors will be rented out. The branch is one of 14 Rothman operates in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Doctors, patients and representatives from Marlton’s business community, which pushed to get the new center located there, mingled at a ribbon cutting for the facility on May 10. With fresh paint and white coats still encased in plastic wrappers, people got to tour the institute’s new home. The front office is more akin to a plush executive office, while the exam rooms are bright and large. The institute has state-of-the-art equipment, including standup X-ray machine and technology that can pinpoint very precise locations for muscle injections to maximize their effectiveness.

“It’s just a beautiful space, and we’re happy to be here, offering patients the best care possible,” West said.
