Cinnaminson: How to Apply for FEMA Aid, Two Weeks Left

Residents only have two weeks left to apply for disaster aid from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for damage sustained by Superstorm Sandy.

Cinnaminson fire officials are encouraging local residents to take advantage since several residents who sustained losses or damage may be eligible for financial help.

“FEMA provides state and local governments with experts in specialized fields and funding for rebuilding efforts for infrastructure by directing individuals to access low interest loans, in conjunction with the Small Business Administration,” said Danny Norman, director of emergency management for Cinnaminson.

Several township homes were damaged during the storm, mostly from falling branches and trees. But to be considered for federal aid, residents must apply.

There are a few ways:

Residents can go to disasterassistance.gov online; m.FEMA.gov on a smartphone; by calling 800-621-FEMA or 800-462-7585 (TTY).

The following should be available when applying for disaster relief:

• Social Security number for you and your spouse
• Private insurance information, if available
• Address and zip code of damaged property
• Telephone number and address
• Bank account information
