A Cinnaminson illustrator is showing some of his work this weekend at New York Comic Con, the East Coast’s largest convention for comics, video games, toys, movies and more.
Chris Kotsakis, a freelance illustrator and one half of Prometheus Creative Group along with sculptor Enrico Botta, were one of only 500 picked to show their work at Comic Con, an event that draws nearly 200,000 people.
Kotsakis, a Cinnaminson native who lives in the house he grew up in with his wife and son, has been doing illustration and concept art for 20 years. He worked in advertising with Botto and about five years ago, the two started Prometheus, with Kotsakis working mostly in two dimensions and Botto in 3-D.
They specialize in character design, illustration and toy sculptures. Botto created two original toys—Batman and Superman—for this year’s Comic Con.
“We’ve done smaller shows,” Kotsakis said, “but this is our first Comic Con. They have become pretty phenomenally big. It’s going to be mayhem.”
The two have their portfolios on display but the thing they are “most excited about,” Kotsakis said, is to pitch their idea for a graphic novel.
Kotsakis doesn’t want to give too much away but it’s got elements reminiscent of The Twilight Zone and Greek and Norse mythology. They are writing the novel as well as designing it.
They are also working on some original ideas for graphic novels they hope to turn into toys.
