Cinnaminson Lights Tree, Santa Comes This Friday

Live music, refreshments and carriage rides around the park will also be featured.

Santa Claus will come to Cinnaminson Friday during the township’s annual tree lighting ceremony that not only features pictures with St. Nick, but live music, kids’ activities, horse-drawn carriages and more.

“It’s going to be a great night,” said Mayor Don Brauckmann. “I’m really looking forward to it.”

The event runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. by the gazebo at Wood Park. The night kicks off with songs sung by Cinnaminson Middle School choirs. At 6:45, the mayor will speak, and soon after, Santa Claus will arrive.

People can start lining up for pictures with Santa—which will be printed out on the spot.

The tree will be lit after a group countdown.

At 7 p.m., Fralinger String Band will perform on the basketball court. At 7:30 p.m., the Rush School Music Makers—who made the semifinals in the B101 Christmas Choir Contest this year—will sing.

Throughout the night, kids can ride on a toy train or a toy fire truck, also located on the basketball courts.

There will be horse-drawn carriage rides around Wood park and free hot chocolate and cookies, courtesy of the St. Charles Holy name Society.

There will also be a United States Marine Corps Toys for Tot collection box located near the tree. Residents are encouraged to bring new and unwrapped toys for those less fortunate.

“This annual event has grown each year and gives our families, friends and neighbors a great way to come together to kick off the holiday season,” Brauckmann said.

UPDATE: If you thought the tree looked a little different, you're right. The township replaced the tree by the gazebo at Wood Park due to damage and suspected disease, Mayor Don Brauckmann said.

The tree was donated when the gazebo was installed several years ago. The new tree is an upward branching Norway Spruce—typically known as a Christmas tree.

"This tree is much fuller, faster-growing, and most importantly, upward branching which is better for lighting," Brauckmann said.

The tree was purchased from Haines Farm and Garden in Cinnaminson for $266 from the public works budget.

Hes not, but has people working for him that do have experience with this type of thing. Just like I am not a registered plumber but the men working for me are.. I don't have to be because I have people working for me who are.

Do not know if its a Philly thing or just for him to chat.....He is always making comments about things like the senior advisory board that maybe in the idea box, the scofflaw information, the buying of the gas station and the no clothing bin for collections.....The list is endless and I do my share also....enjoy the holidays and get ready for higher taxes.....
John December 07, 2012 at 06:59 PM

NO SIGNS December 07, 2012 at 10:53 PM
I have a question why wasn't a single sign put out to tell the Residents about tonight's Tree Lighting Ceremony? I am obligated to take my kids to a birthday party tonight, without any type of notice besides on Patch how are we to find out about things like this? No offense to Patch but this story is dated Dec. 6th and here the event is the very next day. The only way I heard about this was from a neighbor who reads this blog. I don't understand why there was not any signs put out at the park or around town to let everyone know. Very disappointed about this. My children are besides themselves, tears are flowing. Hopefully next year signs will be placed around town well ahead of time for residents to make plans to attend!

Perfect night. Packed and perfect weather. They had the choir there that was on the B101 Christmas song contest and they sounded beautiful. Thank you Cinnaminson!
John December 08, 2012 at 03:49 AM
@no signs, do not feel bad, its the way things are done.....Like the Leaf and branches pick up, it comes with the tax bill with the dates U are supposed to follow but be aware that we are going to have scofflaws that have to be followed or u will be fined.....I hope there will be changes but some articles just vanish like the senior citzens advisory panel which may come....Enjoy the holidays....
Tired of it December 08, 2012 at 04:26 AM
@John, I feel bad for you. Your life must be quite miserable with the amount you complain. Life's too short, enjoy it and stop looking for the negatives in everything. @NOSIGNS Hundreds of people were there tonight, obviously the word got around somehow, I'm sure if signs were put up all over town people would be on here complaining about how they are a waist of tax$$ and man hours. It is sad how much people complain on here. It was a wonderful night with a wonderful NEW tree. Thanks DPW and all who were involved.

John, and others: Articles don't vanish—they get pushed off the main page because other stories get posted. Every article Patch has ever put out in the two years its been live is still on the site. You just need to go up to the search bar and type in a few keywords. And boom—there it is. Thanks.

Silvia December 08, 2012 at 01:31 PM
@ no signs. I heard about this event from watching the meetings, reading about it in Patch, The Wire, on multiple facebook sites, and even got a message from the school district. You claim to have kids so if they are school aged, you should have received the same email as everybody else as well. Stop complaining! It was a wonderful night for thousands of people. Somehow, some way they all heard about the event.

Who made you the CDC Health Expert? From the sounds of it you don't even have kids thank god so why are you imposing parenting on other people on here?
Eric December 08, 2012 at 01:47 PM
Frank I have to ask you do you watch sports? What are your favorite pro sports teams?

I heard about this event last week and attended last night with my family and I live in Moorestown. We have some nice events on Main Street but my little town could learn a thing or two from you guys because that was a very nice community event your town put together last night. Thank you Cinnaminson.
Eric December 08, 2012 at 04:28 PM
Seriously do you watch sports? What are your favorite sports teams? I'm a Giants and Yankees fan just saying cause I know you're a Philly guy and thought you might be a Eagles and Phillies fan...are you?
Stop bullying December 08, 2012 at 04:41 PM
All you haters out there why be so nasty? Obviously this person (no signs) was upset to have missed this event, instead of being on the attack why don't you all show some Christmas spirit and compassion. I think they were clearly making a suggestion. I hope your heart grows like the Grinch's did because yours' must be 2 sizes too small!
John December 08, 2012 at 05:35 PM
@Tired of it, I am not a negative person but when there is something wrong with the system U make comments about it.....Someone has to tell the people that are doing things wrong or being just plain spiteful.....I am not the only one who writes about problems.....the list goes on, have a good day....can U
John December 08, 2012 at 05:39 PM
@Charlie, no one is saying that Cinnaminson, Delran, or Riverton are sub par but if there is something wrong then we have the right to say something right.....happy holidays
Mrs Frank Z December 08, 2012 at 06:23 PM
I can't believe there were 100's, no 1,000's, no wait.... Millions of people there last night. Yea, that's it, Millions! Me and my Elves came all the way from the North Pole. There were signs there for the event. And I was so happy and felt so proud that a Doctor from...... Wait for it..... Moorestown!!! OMG! He must have been slumming it, probably drove his 2010 Range Rover. And Sylvia, not everyones emails are on the list, mine is, but the Mrs' ain't, and you'd be surprised how many locals don't even know this site exists, or Facebook, or computers for that matter. A few signs wouldn't hurt, heck there was a few Hundred Brauckmann/McCarthy signs for an uncontested election, surely they must have had some leftover funds this year, after all, this is a political promotion, ain't it? And one more thing on a serious note, at the next Twp meeting, we should establish a Cinnaminson Cheerleader award and give a plaque with golden pom-poms. This years obvious winner........ Frank Z-ski.!!! All in favor??? :-). Congrats Frank. And a Happy Holidays to all!! Ho ho ho........
Silvia December 08, 2012 at 06:54 PM
Do you really create a new screen name for every topic on Patch? Wow! And where is the Stop Bullying protector for this rant? Ok, maybe a sign wouldn't hurt but seriously, "tears are flowing"... come on! The event was almost 3 hours long. You could have gotten there if you really wanted to.

Happy to see you replaced a new and better healthy tree. However, unless you cordon off and protect this tree from the public's feet compressing the soil around its roots, this tree will meet the same ill fate as the last.
L Crowley December 09, 2012 at 03:07 PM
Everyone heard about it even the Whos in Whoville! Ok are you people happy?? Saliva? Frank? Charlie? Cowpox? Insomnia? Move on people start complaining to each other about something new you beat this topic with a stick!
John December 10, 2012 at 03:33 AM
