Cinnaminson Issues Weather Warning Ahead of Hurricane Sandy

The message asks residents to plan for power outages and flooding.

The township's office of emergency management issued a message to residents through its Global Connect emergency messaging system tonight.

Stay with Cinnaminson Patch as we bring you updated weather information, hurricane safety tips, phone numbers to keep, Cinnaminson's emergency plan and more.

To stay current, bookmark our Hurricane Sandy topic page. We will be updating it all weekend.

The Global Connect message to residents is:

This is an important message from the Cinnaminson Township Police Department regarding the forecasted weather for our area. All citizens living in flood prone and low-lying areas are asked to plan now for re-location with friends or family.

Those with medical conditions requiring electric should consider developing a contingency plan in the event of a power outage. Those who require medications area asked to prepare now by obtaining enough medication to last through the forecasted weather and beyond.

Homeowners are reminded that tree branches and leaves should NOT be in the street as they can lead to blocking storm drains, flooding roads, and potentially causing further hazards to both motorists and first responders. Any loose items such as patio furniture and trash cans should be stored securely to prevent them from causing damage or injury.

Refer to the www.FEMA.gov website to learn and prepare for emergency preparedness. Further updates will be provided through out the weekend as information becomes available.

i just want to say, I've lived a long time and in many many different places BUT never have we ever had the calls warning/alerting us to the various notices that our Cinnaminson Police Department calls us about. THANK YOU CINNAMINSON POLICE DEPARTMENT.

I'm with John on this one. Police today need to go around to everyone's home that has leaves out and tell them to pick them all up and put them in bags by noon tomorrow or our township should be fining them significantly, like 4 figures.
