Cinnaminson Post-Sandy: Trees, Brush Pickup, Outages, What's Open?

UPDATE TUESDAY, 6 P.M. Cinnaminson schools will be closed Wednesday. St. Charles will also be closed. The regular trash schedule will resume Wednesday in Cinnaminson. 

will be Friday. 

Recycling in Palmyra is postponed until Thursday. Recycling efforts will be postponed one day so place your recycling containers at the curb on Wednesday evening.

ORIGINAL STORY 11 A.M. MONDAY: The worst of Hurricane Sandy is behind us however after today's 3 p.m. high tide, things could get dicey again.

The township's emergency management team worked all night to make sure residents were safe and immediate plans were enacted in case of a crisis. 

Some area residents saw flooding and damage from trees but no injuries were reported as of Tuesday morning.

"It could have been a lot worse," said Michael P. King, Cinnaminson's public safety director.

This morning, Cinnaminson Mayor Don Brauckmann and Administrator Frank Locantore are driving around the township assessing damage.

"We're dealing with a lot of trees—multiple trees on wires," Brauckmann said. "We're trying to prioritize our efforts."

There are three crews working on township trees today; about 40 of those fell around Cinnaminson. Brauckmann said there's double that amount that have fallen on private property.

"We still have residents without power but most of the outages are from trees on wires," Brauckmann said. 

According to PSEG's outage map, Cinnaminson is in the lowest group of outages—1 to 500. Riverton and Palmyra are in the same group. There are no widespread outages in the triboro area.

Brauckmann said there is flooding in the township's main flood-prone areas.

Residents can put brush and leaves outside however they must be separated since they are two different pickups. 

Trick-or-treating remains postponed until Friday in Cinnaminson since flooding is still an issue, residents are still without power and cleanup efforts are in effect.

Trick-or-treating is Wednesday in Palmyra and the Halloween Parade will be Thursday night.
