Classic Car Show Rides Into Town Saturday

Dr. Suess' The Lorax will also be shown Saturday night at the park.

More than 100 classic cars will ride into town Saturday morning as part of a classic car show Cinnaminson girls’ softball is sponsoring as a fundraiser.

Organized by softball board member George Ferris, who owns a classic car himself, all proceeds will go for new equipment and an awards fund.

“We want everybody to come out,” Ferris said. “It’s a chance for everybody to support a good cause.”

And it’s a good chance to see some classic cars. Ferris said there could be 200 cars on display at . That’s including his 1973 Plymouth Duster.

Ferris is a class car show connoisseur and reached out to all his sources to help spread the word. He got local businesses involved too—several of which will be on hand Saturday.

Cars will get to the park around 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Ferris also booked a band to play at 11 a.m. and there will be more than 15 vendors—mostly home-based businesses, Ferris said, like Pampered Chef and Tastefully Simple.

All vendors donated a basket and guests can buy tickets for the silent auction. Several businesses also donated gift certificates.

All proceeds benefit the entire girls' softball organization.

Trophies—and bragging rights—will be given out to classic car owners in several different categories. One is the mayor’s trophy where Mayor Don Brauckmann will choose “whatever car strikes his fancy,” Ferris said.

The classic car show runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wood Park. Admission is free. Tickets for a silent auction and 50/50 will be sold.

“There’s going to be a lot of nice cars, a lot of nostalgia,” Ferris said. “That’s the nice thing about going to a car show.”

Later that night, Wood Park will light up again when the township holds its annual move night. On the big screen? Dr. Suess’ The Lorax.

Festivities will kick off around 7 p.m. and the movie will be shown close to 8 p.m., when the sun sets.
