Cold Weather Emergency in Effect

Those seeking temporary shelter can get it.

As high temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday didn't even reach 30 degrees, the Burlington County Health Department declared a Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency that will remain in effect Wednesday night through 9 a.m. Thursday.

The low temperature tonight will be 26, according to the National Weather Service in Mt. Holly.

This type of emergency is made when winter conditions pose a threat of serious harm or death to those with no shelter. Since a code blue has been obtained, there is short-term emergency shelter available. Call 856-234-8888 or 866-234-5006 for information on the location of those shelters. They are not made available to the general public without calling.

The entire county was under code blue for the first time this winter on Jan. 2 and again the evening of Jan. 3 into today.
