County Farm Fair's Tractor Parade Starts Sunday

This year's theme is "Salute to the Troops."

The Burlington County Farm Fair officially opens Wednesday, July 18, but the preliminaries begin this Sunday when a “Salute to the Troops” tractor parade departs from the fairgrounds at 10 a.m., and covers a scenic 35-mile route across the countryside before returning three hours later.

The Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders joins the Farm Fair Association and the Central Jersey Tractor Pullers Association in welcoming residents to find a spot along the route to watch this most unique parade.

This is the second year that the Farm Fair is being held at the new Burlington County Fairgrounds, located at the intersection of Jacksonville-Jobstown Road and Route 206 in Springfield Township.

“Last year I had the high honor of participating in a tractor parade, and officially ‘opening’ the new fairgrounds by driving a tractor on to the grounds, and cutting the red ribbon in the process,” said Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio. “Sunday’s parade reminds us that tractors are an important symbol of the strong agricultural community here in Burlington County,” he said.

The parade route actually includes the Joint Base, and extends east all the way to New Egypt before heading north to the William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery.

The route heads east, back toward Mansfield Township through Mapleton and past Northern Burlington Regional High School, before finding its way back to the fairgrounds.
