Man Charged in Sewerage Authority Scandal Dies in Accident

A Cinnaminson man died in a motorcycle accident Oct. 13 after his bike tipped over and slid on a Cherry Hill road, officials said.

Joseph Lehman, 27, was riding a motorcycle on North Park Drive near the Crowne Plaza Hotel, according to Jason Laughlin, spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

The road ends and Lehman tried unsuccessfully to turn his bike. He and the bike slid into the woods.

No one was charged in the accident and no one else was involved.

Lehman made headlines in February when he was arrested and charged with theft and conspiracy to commit theft in the Cinnaminson Sewerage Authority scandal. Lehman, who was a subcontractor with the authority, was allegedly one of 10 men involved  allegedly was stolen in public resources. His charges were among the less serious compared to the alleged co-conspirators.

Lehman's brothers Jeffrey and Shawn, and their father Joseph Jr., were also arrested and charged.

All are out on bail. The case is still pending presentation to a Burlington County grand jury.

Lehman is survived by his father Joseph J., his mother Cheryl (nee Elwell), his brothers Shawn and Jeff, his grandparents Jim and Billy Elwell and the late Joe and Dorothy Lehman.

He is also survived by aunts and uncles Jim and Chris Elwell, Michael and Apple Elwell, Kathy and Mike Krawczyk, Jim and Shirly Lehman; and his cousins Hailey, Sara, Christan, Jim, Jenny, Melissa, Kelly and Michael.

His obituary in part reads:

Known as JB or Joe, he was a graduate of Cinnaminson High School. JB attended Pennco Tech and became a mechanic. He owned his own business, Superior Engine Demands. JB loved cars, motorcycles and ATVs. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. 

Services for Lehman will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Snover/Givnish. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at St. Charles Borromeo.
