More than $3,000 was raised for Hurricane Sandy victims.

The Cinnaminson School District held a volleyball tournament Wednesday night with all proceeds benefiting Hurricane Sandy victims.

The event was organized by Lynda Acchitelli, middle school counselor and Jill DeMaio, Spanish teacher, who wanted to do something a little extra for hurricane victims.

"I want to thank Superintendent Salvatore Illuzzi, board of education members, the administration, staff, parents, and students for supporting and attending the event," Acchitelli said. "It was a huge success."

In addition to more than 500 t-shirts sold prior to the event, about $2,000 was donated in admission fees and in baked goods sales.

Proceeds totaled more than $3,500 and will be donated to the American Red Cross Sandy Relief Fund.

"This event serves to assist those in need as well as bringing the Cinnaminson community together for a common cause,” Acchitelli said.
