On Jan. 6, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., the Temple Sinai Sisterhood and Men’s Club brunch will be held at the temple, on 2101 New Albany Road. Rabbi Ilene Schneider of Marlton will discuss her latest book, "Unleavened Dead," another Rabbi Aviva Cohen murder mystery.
The book starts as two members of Rabbi Aviva Cohen’s congregation are found dead, seemingly of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. But Aviva has her doubts and as the case unfolds Rabbi Aviva finds her life in jeopardy.
Rabbi Schneider is a 1976 graduate of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Philadelphia, and was one of the first six women rabbis in the United States. She holds numerous degrees and is currently the coordinator of Jewish hospice for Samaritan Hospice in Marlton.
She has been a columnist for the Burlington County Times and the Philadelphia Inquirer. She is also the author of another Rabbi Aviva Cohen mystery, "Chanukah Guilt," and is scheduled to have a short story published in the spring of 2013.
The brunch begins at 9:30 a.m. at the synagogue. The cost is $5 for members, and $10 for non-members. Contact the office at 856 829-0658 for further information. The public is welcomed.
