Visions for Vacancies: What Should Fill This Empty Storefront?

Cinnaminson has empty storefronts, you have ideas. What are some of them to fill the former ACME spot?

Welcome to Cinnaminson Patch's new feature, Visions for Vacancies. Cinnaminson has several empty storefronts and we want to know what residents want to see there.

First, Blockbuster closed. Vanity Fair came next, followed by . J Martin Coar Jewelers left its Cinnaminson location and moved to Marlton.

But now, the shopping center is heating up. Hibachi opened up a year ago and Sonic Drive-In opened for business just a couple of weeks ago.

 is a staple and Elegant Lady brings customers over to the shopping center. 

And construction is slated to begin this spring on to the former Vanity Fair location.

Residents have been giving ideas since Patch's inception about what they'd lke to see in town—bookstores among the highest. But Deputy Mayor Anthony Minniti, who is the director of economic development, said that won't be happening any time soon. Neither Barnes & Noble nor Border's is opening any locations; in fact, the latter went bankrupt last year

The former ACME location is about 66,000 square feet.

"It's not a huge space," Minniti said, "so you're not going to get a Home Depot, Target or anything like that."

Another grocery store is most likely out of the question, especially since .

"You could probably get a Kohl's or Christmas Tree Shop," Minniti said. "Those are the sorts of things you could see there—that size retail."
