West Nile Virus Samples Identified in Palmyra

The mosquito division plans treatment for Thursday.

Mosquito traps strategically placed throughout Burlington County have turned up positive samples of West Nile Virus in Palmyra, Chesterfield and Washington Township, according to the Burlington County Mosquito Division. 

The division plans to treat for adult mosquitoes (weather permitting) in the vicinity of the traps in all three communities Thursday, Sept. 1, from 7 to 11 p.m. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors while treatment occurs. Pesticide will be applied in a mist form by truck. 

Treatment will take place along Leconey Avenue in Palmyra. Treatment is concentrated to areas with one-half-mile of the locations.

The division has now reported a total 23 positive West Nile Samples since the end of July.
