Ladies of Laughter
Ladies of Laughter is a community that encourages women from all walks of
life to “get their funny on!”
First established in 1992 as the Mary Jo Award Fund, the program serves as a
platform for professional and amateur comediennes to jumpstart their careers.
In 1998, the program went “live” as ‘New Jersey’s Funniest Female’ and in 1999,
the producers and corporate sponsorship brought the program to major comedy clubs
and Caesar’s in Atlantic City. Since then, the program has been produced in
multiple markets with established and new women comedians and at legendary
venues like Madison Square Garden, major casinos and The Improv and
Dangerfield’s comedy clubs.
Past winners at events have appeared on Comedy Central, ABC-tV, FOX and
others. Major publicity includes The New York Times, The Sar-Ledger, Ladies
Home Journal and Bob and Tom Show.
