BCC Leaders Thank 9/11 Responders

Sixth-graders donate a special banner to FDNY members.

Today, Burlington County College's (BCC) Bonner AmeriCorps Leaders, a group of students committed to having a positive influence on the community through service, will be hand-delivering a thank-you banner to FDNY Engine Company 10, a firehouse in New York City.

The banner was created by approximately 100 sixth-grade students from Marcus Newcomb School in Pemberton during a special 9/11 assembly hosted by BCC’s Bonner AmeriCorps Leaders. The assembly focused on the heroic efforts of the first responders on 9/11 and featured guest speakers Pemberton Township Fire Chief Craig Augustoni and Jason Palmer, a member of the New Jersey Urban Search and Rescue Task Force at the time of 9/11.

Palmer gave firsthand accounts and showed exclusive photos of the search and rescue efforts on 9/11 and the days following. After the presentation, the sixth-grade students traced their hands on two thank-you banners for first responders.
