Keep your cats off grass, man… That's Easter grass, of course :-

Hello, Patch Pet Lovers!

With the Easter holiday upcoming this weekend, The Preventive Vet shares an extremely important reminder about the dangers of Easter grass!  www.thepreventivevet.com

Keep your cats off grass, man… That's Easter grass, of course :-)

Every year around Easter veterinarians all across the country spend time in their operating rooms removing strands and clumps of Easter grass from the stomachs and intestines of the family pets unfortunate enough to have eaten the stuff. And while many veterinarians may enjoy doing surgery, especially when the outcome is good, I can pretty much guarantee you that the vast majority would rather not have to do surgeries for things that could have been easily prevented. And digestive obstruction from Easter grass is definitely in that "can easily be prevented" category.

There's no denying that Easter grass is attractive to many cats (and dogs, too) and is often plentiful around this time of the year. So if you want to protect your pet (and your emotions and pocketbook) from this easily avoidable surgical emergency, either ban Easter grass from your house entirely or take the necessary precautions to keep it out of your pet's mouth.
