Frankenstorm Poem

(If you have read The Raven, you should enjoy this. Stay safe in the storm, everyone!)

As I wandered in my travels I saw people come unraveled
Coming oh so wildly riled by the coming autumn storm
With the raining, starting, spitting and the clouds all grey and pitting,
Spitting wet, wet drops on bodies of those headed for the store
Those who try to reach the store..
To prepare for Frankenstorm

And at home there are the childs of the parents who’ve gone wild
Costumed kiddies think of Halloween and candy and of gore
Wondering why Mom is snapping and why Daddy keeps on stacking
Stacking sandbag after sandbag right in front of their main door
“So the water won’t get in”
From the dreaded Frankenstorm

At the seashore, no one’s laughing because all of them are packing
Packing clothes and other things they have brought down to the shore
The waves already rolling but some people still are strolling,
Strolling, walking, taking pictures of the mighty beaches worn
Risking lives as they take pictures
Pictures of the Frankenstorm

As I’m driving I am laughing at the crowds and people gasping
Gasping as they try to buy a loaf of bread there at the store
The bread has sold, it did not last. Now they go to buy some gas
And the line for gas is longer, so much longer than before
The wait is even longer than that at the liquor store
Toast a drink to Frankenstorm

And now Sunday night has fallen and the traffic is now crawlin’
Road closures make us stay home and we batten down our doors.
Wondering if we work tomorrow, if we do there will be sorrow,
So much utter, utter sorrow than we’ve ever known before.
Or we could drink our goodies we bought from that liquor store
Another drink to Frankenstorm

Oh this weather is so draining and the people are complaining
Worried that there will be trouble caused them by this perfect storm
Halloween is not so scary, but the weather makes us wary,
Scary, Wary, and contrary of the weather forecast for…
Till we batten down the hatches, make sure of water, matches
We will beat this weather thing that they have hence named Frankenstorm
We will conquer this foul storm
Whose silly name is Frankenstorm…….
