Cinnaminson World War II Vet Dies

Joseph Foy, a longtime Cinnaminson resident, was 88.

Joseph G. Foy, a resident of Cinnaminson for 46 years, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1 at the age of 88.

Born in Philadelphia to Helen and John Foy on July 17, 1925, Joe was the youngest of four boys. He graduated from North Catholic High School in 1943 and immediately joined the U.S. Army Air Corps to fight in World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

He went on to work for RCA, where he stayed for three decades. During that time, Joe received his bachelor’s from the University of Colorado in 1969, and his master’s in electrical engineering at Drexel University in 1977. He retired from RCA in 1986. He went on to work for Lockheed in Plainfield for four years, and in 1990, he returned to South Jersey to work for the Computer Science Corporation in Mount Laurel. Joe retired in 2000.

He was the beloved husband of Betty (nee Bastian) for 64 years; loving father of Carol Knouse of Florida, John (Patricia) of Southampton, Gerald (Cheri) of Mount Arlington, and Kathleen Hawkins (Steven) of Winslow; and dear grandfather of Timothy, Tara, Jennifer, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Juli, Dakota and Dillon.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joe’s life celebration at Snover/Givnish of Cinnaminson (1200 Route 130 North) from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, and Monday from 9-10 a.m. His funeral mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Branch Pike and Pomona Road, Cinnaminson. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
