Dine Out to Help Shelter Animals This Week

The Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter are running a fundraiser this week.

Mimsy came into the Burlington County Animal Shelter like most strays—but when she started limping, X-rays revealed a bullet in her hip and a shattered femur in one leg.

That’s where the Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter and the Burlington County Animal Alliance stepped in, helping to pay for Mimsy’s diagnosis and the surgery she needed to fix her leg.

Locals can help out the Friends this week by downloading a coupon and heading to Ruby Tuesday on Dearborn Circle in Mount Laurel Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, where 20 percent of the check will go to the Friends.

Money donated to the Friends goes toward helping shelter animals—buying toys and treats, getting flea and tick medication and helping pay medical care like Mimsy’s.

The Friends also sponsor the Pets with Perks program, which gives families that adopt certain special dogs and cats bags of pet products and gift cards to help.

“Thanks to support from our donors, we were able to help pay for Mimsy’s care and give her a much better quality of life,” said Penny Legg, president of the Friends. “We hope that many, many people will eat at Ruby Tuesday this Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday so we can help more animals.”
