Authorities: CA Man Shipped Marijuana Cross-Country to Delran

Thomas Arnold of Santa Barbara allegedly sent a big shipment of pot to South Jersey.

Authorities weeded out a huge shipment of "high-grade" marijuana allegedly sent by a California man to a public-storage facility in Delran. 

Thomas Arnold, 55, of the 100 block of East De La Guerra Street, Santa Barbara, CA, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday. 

Arnold made arrangements to have the marijuana shipped in a container to the Delran facility, and he was arrested May 16 after the container arrived, authorities said. The container held 15 large boxes of marijuana weighing a total of about 250 pounds. The marijuana has a street value of $1 million, authorities said.

Arnold was held in the Burlington County Jail on $250,000 cash bail. His case will be presented to a state grand jury in Burlington County for possible indictment. 

The investigation was conducted by detectives from the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office Gang, Gun and Narcotics Task Force, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, New Jersey State Police and the Delran Police Department.

The prosecutor's office declined to release additional details about the case Tuesday afternoon.
