Authorities Solve Another BurlCo Bank Robbery: Prosecutor

The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office is on a roll.

After ending 2013 with a string of unsolved bank robberies, authorities have solved five of them in the first month of 2014. The prosecutor’s office charged an Edgewater Park man Thursday with the Nov. 26 robbery of a Willingboro bank, according to a report.

Authorities said Shalir M. Hall, 20, of Woodlane Road, entered the Beneficial Bank on Route 130 just after 11 a.m. Nov. 26 and handed a note to a teller demanding money and claiming he had a gun, though no gun was displayed. Hall allegedly fled with approximately $1,825.

Hall was arrested on Jan. 13 in Newark for violating his probation, the prosecutor’s office said. He was taken into custody by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department Warrant Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and charged with one count of robbery. Hall has also been charged in Mercer County for the Jan. 8, 2014 robbery of the PNC Bank in East Windsor.

Hall was lodged in Burlington County Jail on $100,000 bail following a first appearance in Superior Court Thursday afternoon.

This is the third bank robbery arrest in Burlington County in less than two weeks:

• On Jan. 14, David J. Glenn, 22, of Burlington Township, was charged with robbing two Delran banks within a span of 15 minutes on Dec. 12, 2013. Hall and Glenn were together when arrested.

In a December press conference following the arrest of a Camden man for a string of bank heists, Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi warned other robbers.

“All criminals make mistakes,” he said. “People also talk. They talk with their confederates, their friends. They brag. They go on Facebook. And they do stupid things that allow them to get caught. I’ll be standing here again announcing their names if they want to engage in this kind of criminal activity.”
