Burlington County Man Sentenced to Three More Years for Aggravated Assault on Officer
Clive Hinds is already serving 25 years for murder.
A Maple Shade man will serve three additional years in prison for the aggravated assault of a law enforcement official he assaulted while a jury deliberated whether he would be convicted of murder, Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk announced on Friday.
Clive Hinds, 22, was sentenced on Friday after pleading guilty to third degree aggravated assault on a law enforcement official in March.
The three years will be served consecutively to a 25 year prison term he received when he was found guilty in November 2012 of the murder of Muriah Huff, 18, of Camden.
Hinds was among 10 people charged in connection with the Camden double murder that resulted in the deaths of Huff and Michael Hawkins, 23.
In November 2012 his case went to trial, and on Nov. 20, while the jury deliberated, Hinds awaited the verdict in the county jail.
He insisted to a corrections officer that he needed a haircut before the verdict was announced. He was told he would not be able to get a haircut at that time, and that led to a melee in which Hinds attacked the corrections officer.
Other inmates in the jail took the opportunity to also attack the corrections officer before other officers broke up the fight.
