A Camden County teacher has been arrested after allegedly having a sexual relationship with a student, Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk said.

Daniel Poussart, 28, of Pine Hill, who Faulk identified as a music teacher at Overbrook High School, faces multiple charges stemming from what Faulk said was a sexual relationship with a girl in one of his classes in November and December of 2013.

Faulk didn't elaborate on the specifics of that relationship, beyond that Poussart, who lists himself as a theater teacher, was in a supervisory role with the student.

Poussart, who makes $49,394 per year, per state records, has been suspended with pay and charged with official misconduct, sexual assault, criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child.

Poussart was arrested Friday morning and is being held at the Camden County Jail in default of $450,000 bail. If indicted on the charges, he would be suspended without pay, Faulk said.

The Pine Hill school district offered total assistance in investigating the alleged sex acts, Faulk said, but he urged anyone with information regarding any other possible incidents to contact Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Kristen Smith 856-225-8673 or Pine Hill Police Detective Matthew Pierson at mpierson@pinehillpd.com. Information can also be emailed to ccpotips@ccprosecutor.org or confidential@pinehillpd.com.

Poussart is one of a number of Camden County teachers who have faced sex-related charges over the last year, including Cherry Hill Spanish teacher Jules Gross, who was arrested after allegedly exposing himself to a child in Walmart, Highland Regional High School social worker Anthony Williams, who was charged after an alleged incident involving a teenage boy, and Timber Creek Regional High School math teacher David Clune, who was charged with harassment after allegedly sending dozens of inappropriate text messages in trying to date a former student.

Those come on top of three former Triton Regional High School teachers and several administrators who all lost their jobs after being convicted last year on charges related to a sex scandal involving relationships with students that began in 2011.
